Note: Rules for WT of LKDVPP follow the Rules for IWT, FCI, and recommendations of the International committee for retrievers FCI.
CLASSES
There are five official classes, from which 3 (underlined) are obligatory, and 2 not:
• Newcomers, P (schnupfer classe, puppy class, vorprüfung)
• Beginners, Z / B,
• Novice, N,
• Open, O
• Veterans, V (seniors)
And an additional class, aimed at popularisation od the WT:
• Other breeds or mix breeds, D (without an official FCI pedigree)
Within class D all tasks are usually at the level for classes P or B, and these dogs do not move up to higher ranking classes.
Other breeds and dogs, that are (co)owned or bred by the judges, can participate in all classes, providing all judges agree on that, but only ‘out of competition’. These dogs obtain the certificate and scores, but can not be ranked within any class.
The class Newcomers (P) is aimed at unexperienced dog handlers and dogs. The level of difficulty is appropriate for dog handlers and dogs, who have basic obedience, searching and retrieving by memory. In the case of too many registrations, the priority is given to dogs that have done at least done a positive hunting dogs’ obedience programme VP1 or VP2 or VPUO BH or BBH.
The class Beginners (Z, B) is aimed for more experienced beginners, who know, besides the basic obedience, searching and retrieving, also basics of directability at distance.
The class Novice (N) is aimed for advanced dogs, who are not yet confident enough for retrieving from large distances, blinds and at greater distractions.
The class open (O) is aimed at most experienced dogs and dog handlers. The exercises request reliable directability. The class is aimed at participating teams, used to searching and retrieving by memory, blinds, at big distances and distractions.
The class Veterans (V) is aimed at dogs of 7 years or older, the exercises are adapted so that they are not too demanding physically.
The class Other breeds (D) is aimed at dogs that do not belong to the FCI group of retrievers (or other breeds from the group VIII/1 and VIII/2) or that do not have an FCI pedigree.
A dog, that was evaluated as excellent three times in any lower class (the lowest is P), has to register in the next WT in a higher class (Z/B or N or O). After a dog has successfully accomplished all exercises in a higher class, it can not any more compete in a lower class.
At any WT three obligatory classes (B, N, O) are to be opened for registration at any WT, except at the WT specifically dedicated for classes P and V only.
For the classes P and V a separate WT can be organized (without any other classes) aiming at popularisation of the WT in Slovenia.
